the hidden story
Hidden Tiger Music is the creation of guitarist, composer, and producer Gregg Fine—an artist whose curiosity and instinct have driven him from jazz clubs to world stages to the studio.
A native of South Florida, Gregg Fine soaked up the Miami music scene before taking his passion for jazz to the next level—studying with legends like Charlie Haden, Pat Metheny, Roscoe Mitchell, and Leo Smith at the University of Miami and CalArts. After CalArts, he headed to New York City to join the New School Jazz Program, where he studied with more greats including Jim Hall, George Garzone, Richie Beirach, and Arnie Lawrence.
Gregg’s talent soon took him around the world, performing as a guitarist with artists such as Harry Belafonte, Richard Bona, Madeleine Peyroux, Hugh Masekela, and Lebo M. His five-year collaboration with Belafonte led to performances across the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe with a multi-cultural ensemble that was equal parts artistry and adventure.
Back in New York, Gregg co-founded Onda Productions with two partners, spearheading the music and composition side of the business—writing, producing, and overseeing a roster of talented freelance composers. The team created original scores for brands like Old Navy, Pantene, Puma, Ford, Honda, Covergirl, and Cotton Inc., with work spanning national campaigns, fashion shows, video games, and films.
Eventually, Gregg launched Hidden Tiger Music, his own creative lair where bold ideas and finely tuned instincts collide. Today, his music powers spots for Mercedes, Lipton, YSL, Nescafe, McDonald’s, Ford, and many others, often in collaboration with some of New York’s most respected music houses. His compositions have appeared in Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations, Zoolander, Accepted, Masters of Reception, MTV’s Gamekillers, and as the theme for ABC’s The Chew—broadcast nationwide five days a week.
Beyond the world of commercial scoring, Gregg is an accomplished producer, mixer, and recording artist for the music industry, with a discography reflecting a wide-ranging mastery of genres and production styles. His credits include producing and mixing for seminal artists like The Isley Brothers (Taken to the Next Phase), De La Soul, Esthero, Manu Dibango and Screaming Headless Torsos (Code Red). He has also served as a composer and artist for labels such as Naked Music/Astralwerks and Liquid Sky/Jungle Sky Records. This diverse work showcases his ability to move effortlessly between the worlds of commercial composition and high-end record production.
In addition to production, Gregg is an author of over twenty full-length courses on music theory, music technology, jazz improvisation, and even web development—sharing the craft of creativity with thousands of students worldwide. A true hybrid creator, he’s also worked as a full-stack software engineer, developing everything from websites to interactive applications that blend sound, storytelling, and code.
